The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) has been hard at work tackling a crisis emerging from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and the Uganda border. Freedom fighters threatened the use of an Ebola virus biological weapon, throwing UNSC into chaos scrambling to resolve the issue.
As the day weighs on, two clear sides emerge from the fires of debate. One side calls for aggression to attack the freedom fighters and force them into surrender, while the other camp calls for peaceful means of resolving the conflict, through military pressure and negotiations.
China’s far-reaching views on peaceful solutions are much commended, as they call for military pressure to encourage the freedom fighters to hang up their weapons and work towards a peaceful DRC. This shows the dedication and foresight of the Chinese towards moderating well-deserved peace in the DRC-Uganda region, a region long being in turmoil. Calling for long-term peacekeeping solutions, the Chinese stance will bring about prosperity, happiness, and progress for DRC and the region.
Unfortunately, their foresight was neutralized by western dotards primed on ensuring a continual imperialistic influence in DRC. They called for immediate attacks on the freedom fighters, calling for a hard stance with a no negotiation policy. The United Kingdom (UK) and France have been the main architects of this deplorable act, with UK asserting that any UNSC resolution “cannot be soft on them, (but) must be hard on them”.
There is a proverb saying, “Sow the wind and reap the whirlwind”. Such a hard stance will bring no benefit to the African people, with such intervention only bringing further destabilization in the region, with the possibility of sparking a much-dreaded war. If these freedom fighters see their authority in the region threatened, it will only hasten the release of their biological weapons, causing avoidable and avertible death. With a secret agenda of increasing influence on the DRC, these western imperials are violating human right rules as dictated by the UN. They are negligent to basic human rights, such as the right to live, which are as basic as 1-2-3.
The affairs of DRC should be under the arbitration and command of the DRC people only and no foreign western led, or inspired intervention is legal under UN laws. An invasion will not only be a blatant violation of UN laws but will further embarrass the nations. The whole world knows that western nations act as chieftains of the world, going around to invade where they like. Such incidents happened in Iraq and Afghanistan, leading not only to major loss of human life in the invaded countries, but also a major embarrassment of the western nations as a result. As they so ill-advised and foolish as to not realize their past mistakes?
Western colonials are too myopic. They look at only short-term problems and solutions but ignore the long-term obstacles and results. On the other hand, the China-led camp focuses on long term peaceful solutions ranging from negotiations to the provision of infrastructure. Such policies will reduce local insurgents as well as foul sentiment against the government.
The Chinese have successfully identified this key root issue and has introduced the solutions early in the debate, but the arrogant western nations chose to focus instead on solidifying the DRC-Uganda borders, an issue that was not at all relevant to the debate.
This further exemplifies the incompetence of the western governments, whereas nations all around the world follow for fear of retaliation. KCNA calls out to all that concession to the gangster-like western countries will only bring fear, destruction, and pain to the people. All nations must drop their act of submissiveness towards these other nations. They should look into the future and support the far-sighted and ingenious Chinese in their fight for DRC’s prosperity.
